ABOUT DAN MATTHEWS
Dan’s love of honest food and cooking started at an early age, working closely in a professional kitchen with his mother from the age of 14. At 20 he was in charge of a team at a new start up restaurant in Brighton and then went on to spend, what he describes as an incredible few years, as 2nd chef at The George & Dragon in Spellhurst. Whilst there he found a passion for working with ethically sourced, free to roam and locally sourced organic produce, and came to received a Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand’.
He went on to start his freelance career as a lead chef for high profile events such including Private dining at Cheltenham Gold Cup, The London Olympics, The Brit Awards and the Guards Polo at Windsor, where he got the opportunity to cook for her late Majesty the Queen.
Now living in Hassock with his wife and two children he runs his freelance career across the South of the UK through pop up events and private dining.
